Numeric Racing's short throw shifter for manual Porsche 981/718 Boxster, Cayman and GT4, and 991/991.2/992 Carrera, 911R and GT3 (6- and 7-speed only), CNC-machined from aerospace-grade aluminium with stainless hardware and precision ball bearings on every axis. It cuts the shift throw by 35 percent for a tighter, rifle-bolt feel, and installs in under an hour with no modification, using the factory shift knob and full centre console. It ships with a 1.5mm spring by default (matching the stock 718 GT4 feel) or a 2mm stiff spring (matching the stock 981 GT4 feel) if chosen at checkout; swapping between them later requires the shifter to be disassembled, so it isn't a casual DIY change. New shifter cables aren't included, and Numeric Racing recommends installing them at the same time. For owners who'd rather not get their hands dirty, Rennen Motorsport or an authorised dealer can fit it instead.

Frequently asked

Which cars does the Short Throw Shifter fit?

Fits your Porsche 991 Carrera. Fabspeed lists this piece for: Porsche 981/718 Boxster/Cayman/GT4 and 991/991.2/992 Carrera/911R/GT3 (6-speed and 7-speed manual only). Exact fitment for your year, trim and options is confirmed on your free consult before anything is ordered.

What does the price include?

The delivered price includes the part from Fabspeed USA, freight to Australia, import costs and GST. Enter your postcode to refine delivery; the final figure is confirmed on consult.

How long until it arrives?

Every Fabspeed part is made in-house at Fabspeed USA with about a one-week production lead time, then allow another 3-4 days for delivery to Australia via UPS. That freight is already included in the price.

What's the difference between the two spring options?

The 1.5mm spring mimics the stock 718 GT4 shift feel; the 2mm spring is stiffer, mimicking the stock 981 GT4 feel.

Can I swap springs later if I change my mind?

Not yourself; swapping requires the shifter to be fully disassembled, which isn't recommended at home, or a $75 charge if Numeric Racing does it for you.

Do I need new shifter cables too?

They're not included, but Numeric Racing recommends installing their performance shifter cables at the same time.

Which option should I choose?

Choose the 1.5mm spring for a shift feel matching the stock 718 GT4, or the 2mm spring for the stiffer stock 981 GT4 feel; both cost the same, but swapping between them later isn't a DIY job, so it's worth picking the one you actually want up front.

Who installs it?

Rennen Motorsport in Adelaide, or an authorised dealer near you. Fitting it yourself may also be an option depending on the part, so raise it on your consult; professional installation is quoted separately.

Is it covered by warranty?

Fabspeed products carry the manufacturer's warranty, supported locally through Rennen Plus as the Australian principal. See our returns policy.

Can I just buy this outright, or do I need to talk to someone first?

Every enquiry, whether it's one part or a full build, starts with a free consult. We confirm the exact spec for your car before anything is quoted or ordered.
