A patented "Y"-design intake plenum from Innovative Pro Design (IPD) for the 996 Carrera, replacing the factory plastic air distributor with a bolt-on aluminium unit for smoother, less turbulent airflow and more linear power delivery. It's offered in five configurations to match the different 996 sub-variants, from the rare X51-package cars through the standard 3.6L, 3.4L and early cable-throttle Carrera 2, plus a Competition package pairing the plenum with a larger 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body. Being aluminium rather than plastic, it also resists heat soak, and full gains are realised once the factory ECU completes its adaptation.

Frequently asked

Which cars does the IPD Intake Plenum fit?

Fits your Porsche 996 Carrera. Fabspeed lists this piece for: Porsche 911 Carrera (996, 1999-2004). Exact fitment for your year, trim and options is confirmed on your free consult before anything is ordered.

What does the price include?

The delivered price includes the part from Fabspeed USA, freight to Australia, import costs and GST. Enter your postcode to refine delivery; the final figure is confirmed on consult.

How long until it arrives?

Every Fabspeed part is made in-house at Fabspeed USA with about a one-week production lead time, then allow another 3-4 days for delivery to Australia via UPS. That freight is already included in the price.

How do I know which of the five options is correct for my car?

Match your engine: X51 is only for the rare 40th Anniversary/special-order X51 cars, 3.6L covers the standard Carrera/S, 3.4L covers the base Carrera, and the Cable Throttle option is for 1998-1999 Carrera 2s built before the switch to E-gas throttles.

Do I need to modify my throttle body to use this?

No, the standard plenum options reuse the factory throttle body. Only the Competition package pairs it with a larger 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body.

Which option should I choose?

Match the plenum to your engine: the X51 option is only correct for the rare 40th Anniversary and special-order X51-package cars, the 3.6L option covers the standard Carrera and Carrera S, the 3.4L option covers the base Carrera, and the Cable Throttle option is for 1998-1999 Carrera 2s built before the switch to E-gas. If you're already running a high-performance exhaust and want the larger 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body alongside the plenum, choose the Competition package instead.

Who installs it?

Rennen Motorsport in Adelaide, or an authorised dealer near you. Fitting it yourself may also be an option depending on the part, so raise it on your consult; professional installation is quoted separately.

Is it covered by warranty?

Fabspeed products carry the manufacturer's warranty, supported locally through Rennen Plus as the Australian principal. See our returns policy.

Can I just buy this outright, or do I need to talk to someone first?

Every enquiry, whether it's one part or a full build, starts with a free consult. We confirm the exact spec for your car before anything is quoted or ordered.
