Software fakes a naturally aspirated feelFerrari's Variable Torque Management system deliberately holds back torque from the twin-turbo V8 in the lower gears, only releasing the engine's full 561lb ft in seventh. It was engineered specifically to mimic the linear throttle response of a naturally aspirated car, masking the lag and torque surge typical of forced induction.

Its racing sibling won Le Mans twice overThe factory-backed 488 GTE swept the GTE-Am podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, then returned in 2019 to take the top GTE-Pro class with James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Daniel Serra sharing the AF Corse-run car. The 2019 result was Ferrari's 27th class win at the Circuit de la Sarthe and arrived in the 70th anniversary year of its first Le Mans victory.
