The Touring line is TracTive's road setup: Suspension whose damping stiffness is adjusted electronically in real time, rather than being fixed or manually set. dampers whose TracTive's valve inside the damper that controls how much fluid moves through it, changing the damper's stiffness in real time. valve reads the road through a G-sensor and adjusts damping within milliseconds, so the car stays comfortable over rough surfaces and controlled when you push on. This kit is a standalone system, with TracTive's own control unit and sensor included.

What's the difference between plug-and-play and standalone?

Plug-and-play runs through your car's existing factory electronics, keeping the original top mounts and control unit in place. Standalone brings its own control unit and sensor, for cars that never had a factory electronic damper system to plug into.

Doug has been a repeat client, staging and budgeting different components to complete his 996 Carrera build. First we made the 3.4L breathe and respond better with a BMC high-flow air filter, Fabspeed carbon fibre airbox, XperTune software and an IPD intake plenum. Then, wanting a nice low ride height while transforming the suspension dynamics, Doug opted for TracTive Touring Line electronic suspension with the stand-alone control unit and display. The 996 never came with PASM: TracTive reacts to input in 6 to 10 milliseconds with on-the-fly damping adjustment, which is what sets this build apart from your average 996. Next on the list: a Fabspeed exhaust to liven up the sound.

“I find the drive very stable and planted. All the skittish issues I would feel before on acceleration and cornering have vanished. It feels no matter what the corner, no matter what the speed, the car will negotiate whatever is presented without fault. So, after having the system in for a few weeks I can validate the cost and install. In a word, AWESOME.”
